Where did it all begin?
I’m not sure when I started taking photos. I do remember I bought a film camera when I moved to Barcelona from my hometown, and after seeing the first film developed I felt the need to keep saving all these memories.
What is the worst advice you’ve heard?
“You must photograph on digital if you want to be a professional photographer.”
It’s obviously not true but it’s also not very useful advice; the freedom of the format is part of the art.
Most beautiful moment during the creative process?
It’s really exciting when I realize what the image is before I shoot it!
What doesn’t inspire you?
Trends.
What are you proud of?
I’m proud of having a ten-year archive full of beautiful and special images. These days I’m busy making a book about this decade of work and I am so excited about it!
Who would you like to meet or who would you like to work with?
I don’t remember any names now, but I like to meet people who love what they do in the purest way.
What would you have done, if not this?
I don’t know. It already came as a surprise to me that I became a photographer. I definitely never imagined my professional life like this when I was still living in my hometown.
When was your biggest moment of doubt?
I guess when Instagram became everything. I really hate the rush of it, people don’t spend a lot of time on the photographs and sometimes the details are the most important part of the image.
Who is your biggest supporter?
The people closest to me. They understand better than anyone what I do and they can criticize and help me whenever they think it is needed.
Favorite image?
I don’t have a favorite. I do love this old one:
What is to you, the most beautiful sentence?
“As I was moving ahead I saw glimpses of beauty”
– Jonas Mekas
What do you still want to do?
I want to travel to Iceland. It’s been a dream of mine since forever. I would also love to visit Iran, I love Abbas Kiarostami films and Persian art in general. It’s so special how much they care for tradition and detail in their daily life.
