year of birth: 1994

birthplace: Dublin, Ireland

current residence: Ghent, Belgium

purchased his first camera around 2012, and was gifted his first analog camera in 2018. has apparently enjoyed using a pencil since he was a young child.

Where did it all begin?

During my studies of architecture is when I began to analyse and document the built context around me, but now in the last several years, throughout my time in practice, I find myself observing and imagining in a different way. Maybe it is through the reality of the profession that I find more joy in these moments of imagination.

What is the worst advice you’ve heard?

Hmm, bad advice seems to circulate too often in the field of architecture. (laughs) I was once told that if I didn’t dedicate my entire life to the profession, I could never achieve success. While that is not advice directly relating to my image work, it reminds me to always find balance between the different aspects of life.

Most beautiful moment during the creative process?

I am often captivated by those mid-moments of reflection, like those that arise while scanning a negative and uncovering an image. It’s a time to revisit the original thoughts, reflecting on how they originated, and if they have evolved since then.

What doesn’t inspire you?

To overthink the future, and to dwell on the past. I try to stay grounded in the here and now.

What are you proud of?

To be learning about the value of life itself and the precious opportunity we have to be alive. This has become a driving force for my passions, an opportunity to live in content.

Who would you like to meet or who would you like to work with?

Giorgio Morandi. His work reflects a sense of introspection, a beauty in the everyday. I would love to observe him painting, to hear his thoughts.

Favorite material?

In regards to photography, I am most passionate about analog film. With analog I feel there is no sense of distraction in that moment of creating an image, no overthinking the details.

What would you have done, if not this?

Recently, I have been thinking quite a lot about this. I adore the idea of craft, particularly that with wood-work, and in the scale of furniture. At the same time, gardening is such an intriguing experience. I think something with a natural aspect.

When was your biggest moment of doubt?

Last year I faced a few hurdles in life, which has led to some recent moments of doubt. Moments in which I was beginning to question my interests, my satisfactions, my purpose. But I have learnt to not see only negativity in that doubt, it is more so a moment to reflect, to appreciate, to find value in.

Who is your biggest supporter?

Myself. Undoubtedly, I have the invaluable support of those around me, but I strongly believe that finding a sense of inner-happiness, a sense of self satisfaction, is essential.

Favorite image?

This is quite a recent image, from 2024, which for me sparks a lot of thoughts and wonders. In some way the building does not feel real. But if that building is not real, then what is?

What is to you, the most beautiful sentence?

Although it may not be a complete sentence, the word ‘balance’ holds so much meaning for me.

What do you still want to do?

To simply continue exploring my passions, to continue the joy of learning.

Where do you work?

Most often at home, where I can best find peace and quiet, and have a siesta.
